Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy (Xbox) Compare Prices

Game Review & Description: As the George Lucas' franchise continues to grow in video games, thanks to a long running onslaught from Activision and LucasArts, gamers now have a great selection of Star Wars games to choose from, covering a vast array of genres. In this instance, we take a look at the Xbox version of Jedi Academy, a thoroughbred adventure following just a couple of months after the PC original. Following on from the conclusion of Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy tells of the discovery of a mysterious group creating havoc throughout the galaxy. Obviously this is unacceptable, and so the quest to restore order must begin. The future of the Star Wars galaxy itself hangs precariously in the balance... A fresh aspect of the Jedi Knight series is the player's ability to create and customise their own characters. This can be done by selecting from a range of characteristics such as species, gender, clothing, and physical attributes including hair and facial features. More importantly, though, it's even possible to create a custom lightsaber using different hilt designs and blade colours. While the infamous weapon of choice plays an even bigger role in Jedi Academy, players are also armed with a healthy variety of other weapons - both new and old - at their disposal. Blasters, rifles, Wookie bowcasters, Imperial repeaters and the aptly named Destructive Electro-Magnetic Pulse gun are all available to wreak havoc with, as players navigate the game's multi-branching levels and story. The Xbox version Jedi Academy is comparable with its PC counterpart, even to those with a high-spec set up. The game does have lower resolution visuals without a monitor, but it doesn't hinder the Jedi Academy experience in any way. It's another fine addition, not just to the Jedi Knight series, but to the Star Wars franchise as a whole.
