Game Review & Description: Ubi Soft continue to release quality Rayman titles, and the PlayStation 2s Rayman M proved extremely popular as a multi-player game. Following in its wake is Rayman Rush for the much older PlayStation. Situated in the ever-growing Rayman universe of Lums, Tings and the evil Mr Dark, Rayman Rush is essentially a racing title on foot. Playing against several other bizarre characters including giant blue blobs and deceased, armoured ghosts, you must overcome the hazardous courses that lay before you. Each course has a tailored environment and features obstacles suited to the race location. Exploding barrels, pop-up barriers and swamps are just a few of the must-avoid features present. A training mode helps new players get accustomed to the elementary control method. Quite simply, all you have to do is run, jump and fire a character-unique weapon. But to win consistently, you really need to be strategic: a good tactic is to stay in close second until the approach of the finish line and then take the lead, giving the opposition little chance to counter your move. There are several game modes that comprise of Championship, Target Lum and Time Attack, but there is far more fun to be had playing against friends rather than CPU-controlled opponents. There is no doubt that Rayman Rush has been developed with multi-player gaming in mind, and it shows. Ultimately, its a good single-player experience, but a mind-blowing multi-player game.
